JLPT Level 2

In December, I took the Level 2 JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test), the government-sponsored test for Japanese proficiency. I finally got my results today, and despite all my doubts, I defeated the odds and by some crazy random happenstance, I passed! Woo

To quote the inside of the result form, “Level 2: The examinee has mastered grammar to a relatively high level, knows around 1,000 Kanji and 6,000 words, and has the ability to converse, read, and write about matters of a general nature. This level is normally reached after studying Japanese for around 600 hours and after completion of an intermediate course.” So I passed — even though I don’t actually know that many kanji. It would be nice if I did, though.
I guess this means that I’ll be taking the Level 1 JLPT (which requires 900 hours of study), in July. If I pass that one, I don’t know what I’ll do with myself. I mean, I don’t even know right now.

I am so proud of you! I really am not surprised that you passed this test – it’s just your natural smartness coming out. And I suppose that all those hours and hours of watching Japanese animee were not really wasted after all. I’d like to wave it under Mr. Hauser’s nose and say “See!” I love you. Mama
Thanks! You may not be surprised, but I am! But I guess if you add up the hours I spent watching anime with the time I spent actually studying Japanese, it comes to well over 600 hours. Wouldn’t it be funny if I got a job teaching Japanese at Moon? Then I could really wave it in his face.
Dude Rintaun!
Been a while guy, and congrats!
And 900 hours of study…damn, that’s a bit too much for me lol.
But hey, good luck with your studies and succeed or else! no cookie!
Peace
